Electricity travels easily through "conductors."
Metal is one good conductor. That's why power lines and appliance
cords have metal inside them for electricity to travel on. Water
is another great conductor.
Because your body is mostly water, you
are a great conductor! So if you touch electricity and the ground
at the same time, you will become electricity's easiest path. Electricity
will flow through you, and you could be seriously hurt or killed.
Each year electrical burns or electrical shock injure more than
4,000 kids and kill about 25 kids under age 15. Learn how these
injuries happen, so you can stay safe.
